Women’s health advocates will be rallying at the General Assembly today to battle another round of attacks on reproductive health care. The message to lawmakers: “you don’t walk in every woman’s shoes.” Here are the details:
Who: Women’s health advocates, ACLU, Ipas, Lillian’s List, NARAL Pro-Choice NC, NC Now, NC Women Matter, NC Women United, Planned Parenthood Health Systems and Planned Parenthood of Central North Carolina
What: “Not in Her Shoes Rally”
Where: Halifax Mall, 300 North Salisbury Street, Raleigh, NC
When: March 20, 2013, Noon-1:00 pm
On the heels of the NC Senate’s reintroduction of an amended version of the so-called “Woman’s Right to Know” bill —passed in 2011 and enjoined by Federal District Court—women (and men) will gather to tell politicians they should stay the heck out of a woman’s personal health decisions because they do not “walk in every woman’s shoes.” Shoes gathered for the event as a symbol will be distributed to a local women’s organization.
This video spells out the “not in her shoes” message simply and succinctly.
